180-Gram Vinyl LP

This is Nonesuch's US vinyl edition of Wilco (The Album), catalog number 516608-1. It puts the band's seventh studio album on a single 180-gram LP, with six songs on side A and five on side B. Bob Ludwig mastered the album at Gateway Mastering.

Recording started at the Loft in Chicago in October 2008. When Neil Finn invited the band to New Zealand for 7 Worlds Collide, his Oxfam benefit project, the sessions moved to Roundhead Studios in Auckland, and the album was finished back at the Loft. Wilco produced it with Jim Scott, who had engineered Being There, Summerteeth and Sky Blue Sky. Scott then mixed it with Kevin Dean at PLYRZ Studios in Santa Clarita, California.

Jeff Tweedy wrote every song except "Deeper Down," which he wrote with multi-instrumentalist Pat Sansone. Feist sings with Tweedy on "You and I," the first duet on a Wilco album. "You Never Know" was the lead single and reached No. 1 on Billboard's Triple A chart. The band is the lineup that has held since 2004: Tweedy, John Stirratt, Nels Cline, Sansone, Mikael Jorgensen and Glenn Kotche.

The album peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, Wilco's highest placing to that point, and was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Americana Album. It was also their last studio album for Nonesuch before they moved to their own dBpm label. Autumn de Wilde took the cover photograph, and the camel in the party hat is named Alfred. Tweedy designed the package with Lawrence Azerrad.
