Single LP Reissue in Gatefold Jacket with 12x12 Insert

This is Geffen's October 2016 vinyl reissue of Weezer's sixth studio album, the band's third self-titled record and the one known by the color of its cover as the Red Album. It is a single LP in a gatefold jacket with a 12x12 insert, and the ten songs are split evenly, five to a side. The reissue carries catalog number B0025157-01. The album's first US vinyl run, in 2008, was a limited edition pressed on red vinyl.

DGC and Interscope first released the album on June 3, 2008. Production was divided between Rick Rubin and Jacknife Lee, with the band producing a handful of tracks itself. Sessions ran at Shangri La Studios and the Malibu Performing Arts Center in Malibu and at Threshold Studios in Santa Monica.

It is the only Weezer album to give lead vocals to all four members: Rivers Cuomo, Brian Bell, Scott Shriner and Patrick Wilson. Four singles came from it: "Pork and Beans," "Troublemaker," "The Greatest Man That Ever Lived (Variations on a Shaker Hymn)" and "Dreamin'." Cuomo wrote "Pork and Beans" after a meeting with Geffen executives, and Jacknife Lee produced it in the album's final session. The song reached number one on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart, and its video won a Grammy Award.
