Indie Exclusive Gold Vinyl

This is the independent record store edition of Weezer's 2026 self-titled album: a single LP pressed on gold vinyl for Reprise Records. The sticker on the front of the jacket identifies it as the Indie Record Store Exclusive Gold Vinyl and calls out "We Might as Well Be Strangers" featuring Wednesday. Ten songs run five to a side, 32 minutes and 48 seconds in all.

Widely known as the Gold Album, it is the band's 20th album and the seventh in the run of self-titled records named by color, after the Blue, Green, Red, White, Teal and Black albums. The jacket is a gold-leaf relief with the Weezer W at its center, and the release notes describe its surface as marked by four symbols believed to represent its creators.

Klas Åhlund and Kenneth Blume, formerly known as Kenny Beats, produced it, and the band's press release set the goal as "the most violent Weezer album ever." The songs came out of back-to-basics sessions with all four members at the band's rehearsal space, and Putnam Hill in Los Angeles is credited as the studio. Three of the four members wrote songs for it, and Rivers Cuomo and drummer Patrick Wilson co-wrote a song together for the first time since the 1994 debut.

Wilson wrote "Shine Again," issued as a single with a lyric video on April 1, 2026. Karly Hartzman of Wednesday sings opposite Cuomo on "We Might As Well Be Strangers," and "C.E.O." followed as a single on August 5. It is Weezer's first full-length album since Van Weezer in 2021.
