180 Gram Black Vinyl, Limited Hand-Numbered Edition

SRC Vinyl's 2014 pressing, catalog number SRC063, is the first time Death to False Metal appeared on vinyl. The vinyl edition was announced on September 25, 2014, nearly four years after Geffen issued the album in November 2010. It is a US release co-credited to Geffen and Universal Music Special Markets under B0021141-01, cut to a single LP on 180 gram black vinyl in a limited run.

The jacket is a matte-finish gatefold. Inside, the record sits in a poly sleeve alongside an 11 x 22 inch, four-page matte insert carrying lyrics and credits. Each copy ships in a plastic outer sleeve with a hype sticker on the front and a hand-numbered SRC sticker on the back.

Side B closes with "Mykel and Carli," a bonus track first offered with the iTunes edition and absent from the standard CD. It is a previously unreleased version from the Blue Album sessions, different from the one issued on the 1994 "Undone - The Sweater Song" single, and the insert carries no lyrics or credits for it.

The songs are outtakes the band cut during its long run with Geffen and DGC. "Everyone" and "Trampoline" were recorded in 1998, between Pinkerton and the Green Album. "Blowin' My Stack," "Losing My Mind," "I'm a Robot" and a cover of Toni Braxton's "Unbreak My Heart" come from the Make Believe sessions, while "The Odd Couple" and "Autopilot" were recorded in contention for the Red Album. The opener, "Turning Up the Radio," grew out of Rivers Cuomo's "Let's Write a Sawng" YouTube project and credits 17 co-writers.

Cuomo has called the record Weezer's ninth studio album; band historian Karl Koch compared it instead to Cuomo's Alone home-recording series. The original release arrived the same day as the deluxe edition of Pinkerton and debuted at number 48 on the Billboard 200. The title borrows a phrase coined by Manowar, and the cover art mimics a Jehovah's Witnesses religious tract.
