Black Vinyl LP Reissue

This black vinyl LP is the January 2022 reissue of the Lost In Translation soundtrack, pressed for Rhino's Start Your Ear Off Right campaign on the Emperor Norton imprint under catalog number RR1 317068. It comes in a poly-lined white paper inner sleeve, and the runouts carry a "Mastered by Capitol" stamp.

The album accompanies Sofia Coppola's 2003 film starring Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson, set largely in Tokyo. Emperor Norton first released it in September 2003. Brian Reitzell supervised the music and is credited as executive producer, and he co-produced "Shibuya" and "On the Subway" with Roger J. Manning Jr.

Kevin Shields of My Bloody Valentine contributed five pieces, four new instrumentals plus the band's own "Sometimes." Air's "Alone in Kyoto," mixed by Nigel Godrich, sits alongside tracks by Sebastien Tellier, Death in Vegas, Squarepusher, Phoenix and Happy End, and The Jesus and Mary Chain's "Just Like Honey" closes the record.

The soundtrack reached No. 13 on Billboard's Soundtrack Albums chart and No. 4 on the UK soundtrack chart, and it holds a Metacritic score of 84. The Bill Murray performance of "More Than This" heard in the film was a hidden track on the CD and does not appear on this LP.
