180 Gram Black Vinyl LP With Lyric Poster

This is the XL Recordings vinyl edition of Contra, catalog XL LP 429: one 180-gram black LP, with the first six songs on side A and the last four on side B. A fold-out poster of the cover photograph, printed with the lyrics, is packed inside the jacket.

Contra is Vampire Weekend's second album. XL released it on January 11, 2010 in the UK and a day later in the US, and it entered the Billboard 200 at number one on first-week sales of 124,000 copies. That made it the band's first chart-topper, and the 12th independently distributed album to reach the top spot since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991. The RIAA certified it Gold in 2011, and it was nominated for the Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album.

Rostam Batmanglij produced the record and also wrote the string arrangements, mixed it and handled much of the engineering. Recording ran from 2008 into 2009 at studios in Brooklyn, Manhattan and Mexico City, and Emily Lazar mastered it. Next to the African guitar figures of the first album, the songs take in ska on "Holiday," synth-pop on "Giving Up the Gun" and rave on "Run," and "Diplomat's Son" carries a vocal sample from M.I.A.'s "Hussel."

The cover is a Polaroid from 1983 that Batmanglij came across while searching Flickr for New York City in that year. "Horchata" went out as a free download from the band's website on October 5, 2009, and "Cousins," the video above, followed as the first single in November with a 7-inch.

Shipping Speeds & Delivery Estimates

Delivery timelines are estimates, not guarantees.

Estimated delivery windows are quoted at checkout based on the shipping speed you select and your delivery address. Transit time begins after your order has been processed.

Typical delivery within the United States ranges from 3–7 business days after shipment, depending on location and selected service. Delivery times for Canada vary by destination and carrier, and may be affected by customs processing.

While most deliveries arrive within the quoted window, occasional delays may occur due to weather, carrier volume, or other factors outside our control.

Shipping Rates

Shipping costs are calculated and displayed at checkout based on destination, package weight, and selected delivery speed.

Signature Requirements

Orders totaling over $250 may require a signature upon delivery to help ensure safe receipt. This is applied based on order value and carrier guidelines.

Chargebacks & Payment Disputes

We strongly encourage customers to contact us directly with any concerns before filing a credit card dispute or chargeback.
