25th Anniversary White Vinyl LP

A single white vinyl LP of The Man Who, made for the album's 25th anniversary and for National Album Day 2024 in the UK. Craft Recordings issued it under catalog number CR8340, and it was pressed in the Czech Republic. The sides were cut by Greg Moore at Finyl Tweek. After "Slide Show" closes side B, the hidden track "Blue Flashing Light" follows unlisted, as it did on the original.

Travis's second album came out on Independiente on May 24, 1999. It turned away from the louder sound of Good Feeling, and many of the songs predate that debut: "As You Are," "Turn" and "She's So Strange" go back to 1993. The band recorded in several places, including Mike Hedges's chateau in France, RAK Studios and Abbey Road.

Early reviews were mixed and the album slipped down the chart after entering at No. 5. Then the band played "Why Does It Always Rain On Me?" at Glastonbury in 1999 and it began raining as the first line was sung. With that single and "Turn" both reaching the UK top ten, The Man Who climbed to No. 1 and finished as the third best-selling album of the year in Britain. It has been certified six times platinum in the UK. "Writing To Reach You," the opening track and the video above, was the first single.
