Silver Vinyl LP

Numero Group's reissue of Story Of The Year on silver vinyl, released July 31, 2026 under catalog number NUM821. When the album first came out in 1983 it was issued only in Europe, by the Belgian label Les Disques du Crépuscule, so this is its first American pressing. Numero licensed it from Mikel Rouse, who led the band, and reissued the earlier Tirez Tirez album Etudes the year before. The label sums the record up as "contemporary Dadaism for the Danceteria curious."

Rouse started Tirez Tirez in Kansas City, and the group's first show was as the opening act for Talking Heads at a 1978 concert there. The original trio moved to New York City in 1979. By the time of this album the lineup was Rouse on vocals and guitar, Rob Shepperson on drums, James Bergman on bass and Philip Johnston on keyboards and woodwinds. The same four players made Jade Tiger in 1984 as Mikel Rouse Broken Consort, the instrumental ensemble Rouse ran alongside the band.

Ten songs are split five to a side, from "Dreams" through "This Is New York" and "Inside Albany" to the closing "There Ain't Nothing." Tirez Tirez went on to make Social Responsibility and Against All Flags for I.R.S. before Rouse wound the group down and continued as a solo composer in New York.
