Rhino High Fidelity 180g Black Vinyl LP, Rocktober 2026

This is the Rocktober 2026 issue of Fun House in the Rhino High Fidelity series, a 180-gram black LP sold through brick-and-mortar record stores. Kevin Gray cut the lacquers at Cohearent Audio from the original analog master tapes in an all-analog chain, and Optimal Media pressed the record. It comes in a heavyweight glossy gatefold jacket with an obi strip, with a four-panel insert carrying new notes from Iggy Pop. Rhino first put Fun House into the series earlier in 2026 as a numbered edition of 5,000, catalog number RHF1 74071; this Rocktober pressing is issued under its own barcode and is not described as numbered.

Fun House was the Stooges' second album for Elektra. "Down on the Street" was released as a single in August 1970 with "I Feel Alright (1970)" on the B-side, and the single version adds an organ overdub by producer Don Gallucci that the album cut does not have. Steve Mackay's tenor saxophone enters on side two, on "1970," "Fun House" and "L.A. Blues."

The sessions have been reissued at length. In 1999 Rhino released 1970: The Complete Fun House Sessions, a limited box set holding every take of every song from every day of recording, and in 2005 Elektra and Rhino paired a new remaster of the album with a disc of outtakes. Simon Reynolds wrote in Melody Maker that it was "no contest, the greatest rock n' roll album of all time," and Gibson placed "Dirt" at No. 46 on its 2010 list of the top 50 guitar solos.
