Jackpot Records pressed this edition of There's A New Dawn on splatter-color vinyl in 2016, one of two limited colored runs of the album it issued that year under catalog number JPR-021; the other was blue. It followed Jackpot's 2012 vinyl reissue and its 2009 CD, and it carries the twelve songs of the original LP, six to a side.
The New Dawn came from Salem, Oregon. Their only album first appeared in July 1970 on the Hoot label, catalog GR-70-4569, produced by Gary Nieland. Bill Gartner and Dan Bazzy shared lead vocals and drums, Larry Davis played keyboards and guitar, and Joe Smith played lead guitar. Bazzy wrote most of the songs; Gartner wrote the title track, "Last Morning" and "Life Goes On," and co-wrote "Dark Thoughts" with Davis.
Jackpot's notes for the reissue list the record's calling cards as fuzz guitar, minor-chord organ dirges, tender vocals and monumental bass, and describe it as a private press gem.
