Single Vinyl LP on Blue Note Records

Blue Note issued this US vinyl edition on April 13, 2018 under catalog number B002806401. It is a single LP with four pieces on each side, and the full album runs 44:06. The A and B lacquers carry Masterdisk stamps in the runout, and the sleeve credits the group as the Nels Cline 4.

This record is also the band's debut. Nels Cline, the Wilco guitarist since 2004, shares the front line with fellow guitarist Julian Lage, who appears courtesy of Mack Avenue Records. Bassist Scott Colley and drummer Tom Rainey make up the rest of the band. Cline and Lage had already recorded as a duo on the 2014 Mack Avenue album Room. Blue Note's announcement says Colley and Rainey joined them in 2016, during a residency at The Stone in New York.

The sessions took place in May and October 2017 at Strange Weather and Studio G, both in Brooklyn. Cline wrote seven of the eight pieces. The eighth is "Temporarily" by Carla Bley, a tune from the Jimmy Giuffre 3 songbook. On his own site, Cline says the opener "Furtive" was inspired by Duke Ellington's "Tourist Point of View" from The Far East Suite. "Imperfect 10" was released as a single. Cline's previous Blue Note album, the 2016 record Lovers, had him leading a 23-piece ensemble arranged by Michael Leonhart, so this quartet is a much smaller setting. Blue Note quotes Stereogum calling the result "vibrant, adventurous."

Typical delivery within the United States ranges from 3–7 business days after shipment, depending on location and selected service. Delivery times for Canada vary by destination and carrier, and may be affected by customs processing.

While most deliveries arrive within the quoted window, occasional delays may occur due to weather, carrier volume, or other factors outside our control.

Shipping Rates

Shipping costs are calculated and displayed at checkout based on destination, package weight, and selected delivery speed.

Signature Requirements

Orders totaling over $250 may require a signature upon delivery to help ensure safe receipt. This is applied based on order value and carrier guidelines.

Chargebacks & Payment Disputes

We strongly encourage customers to contact us directly with any concerns before filing a credit card dispute or chargeback.

Once a dispute or chargeback has been initiated, we are unable to proceed with refunds, replacements, or reshipments until the case is fully resolved. Resolution timelines are controlled by the payment processor and can take up to 120 days.
