RSD Essentials #090 Yellow with Red Splatter Vinyl LP
This pressing of Congo Ashanti is number 090 in the RSD Essentials series, issued by VP Records on yellow vinyl with red splatter. The audio is newly remastered, and the package adds liner notes and rare images, with photography by Antoine Giacomoni. The jacket carries the close-up portrait cover of the album's 1979 European issue.
The Congos made their name with Heart of the Congos, cut with Lee "Scratch" Perry at his Black Ark studio in 1977 and released on Perry's own label while he was in dispute with Island Records. VP Records describes Congo Ashanti as the group's first album after leaving Black Ark. It first appeared in 1979 on the Congo Ashanty label in Jamaica and through CBS in Europe, the same year as Image of Africa.
Cedric Myton sings lead, with Watty Burnett and Roy Johnson on harmonies. The sessions ran at Harry J and Aquarius with engineers Sylvan Morris and Mervyn Williams, and Geoffrey Chung mixed the record at Dynamic Sounds in Kingston. Ernest Ranglin plays lead guitar on "Hail The World Of Jah," Sly Dunbar and Santa Davis are credited on drums, and Tommy McCook plays saxophone.
Evergreen Vinyl ships records with care and attention to detail, using established carriers and packaging practices designed to protect physical media in transit.

While most deliveries arrive within the quoted window, occasional delays may occur due to weather, carrier volume, or other factors outside our control.
Shipping Rates
Shipping costs are calculated and displayed at checkout based on destination, package weight, and selected delivery speed.
