This is the first time High has been issued on vinyl. The Blue Nile's fourth and final studio album had been a CD-only release until Confetti Records put out this 180-gram LP in 2020 under catalog number BLUELP004. The remaster is by Calum Malcolm, the band's longtime producer and engineer, and the LP closed out a reissue program that brought A Walk Across the Rooftops, Hats, Peace at Last and High back on CD and vinyl.
The record carries the nine songs of the original album, five on side one and four on side two. The bonus disc of previously unreleased songs and remixes belongs to the 2CD collector's edition of the same reissue and is not part of this LP.
High first arrived on 30 August 2004 on Sanctuary Records, a week after the single "I Would Never." Every song is by Paul Buchanan, who made the album with Robert Bell and Paul Joseph Moore across several Glasgow studios between 1997 and 2004. It gave the band their first UK Top 10 album, peaking at No. 10, and the 2020 Confetti reissue charted again at No. 74. One song had already been heard elsewhere: versions of "Soul Boy" appeared earlier on records by Edyta Gorniak in 1997 and Melanie C in 2003.
Evergreen Vinyl ships records with care and attention to detail, using established carriers and packaging practices designed to protect physical media in transit.
