Indie Exclusive Red & Milky Clear Ghostly Vinyl LP

Smartpunk Records' 2026 reissue of Fast Times at Barrington High, catalog SPREC1175, in the Indie Exclusive pressing on red and milky clear "ghostly" vinyl, limited to 300 copies. Smartpunk issued the reissue for the album's 18th birthday, returning it to vinyl for the first time since the 2009 Fueled By Ramen pressing on blue marbled vinyl. This single LP carries the twelve-song standard album across two sides; the bonus tracks belong to Smartpunk's separate 2xLP deluxe edition. The printed inner sleeve credits Blake Healy as "Black Healy" and Mason Musso as "Mason Mussa."

The third album by The Academy Is... came out in August 2008 on Fueled By Ramen and Decaydance. Its title points to Barrington High School in Illinois, which William Beckett and Adam Siska attended, and to the 1982 film Fast Times at Ridgemont High. S*A*M and Sluggo produced it at Avatar Studios in New York in the spring and summer of 2008, and the cover photograph was taken by Beckett's sister, Courtney Beckett. After hearing the demos, Pete Wentz wrote that they were "Mind blowing. Miles away from where they were."

Beckett, Mike Carden, Adam T. Siska, Andy Mrotek and Michael Guy Chislett are joined by friends from the same scene: Gabe Saporta and Mason Musso sing on "Crowded Room," Andrew McMahon plays piano on "After the Last Midtown Show," and Blake Healy adds piano to "His Girl Friday" and "Summer Hair = Forever Young." The album debuted at number 17 on the Billboard 200, selling about 35,000 copies in its first week, and reached number 5 on both the Top Alternative Albums and Top Rock Albums charts. Rolling Stone placed it 46th on its list of the best albums of 2008. "About a Girl" was the first single, and the video above is its official clip from Fueled By Ramen.
