Red Marble Vinyl, TX30 Special Edition

Revelation Records pressed 972 copies of this edition on red marble vinyl. It is the second of three TX30 Special Edition releases marking thirty years of Texas Is the Reason, and it holds the band's only full-length album. The original recording, produced by J. Robbins of Jawbox and mastered by Vlado Meller, was cut again with direct metal mastering for this pressing. An obi strip wraps the jacket, and an eight-page booklet carries photographs that had not been published before.

The band formed in New York in 1994. Guitarist Norman Brannon came from Shelter and drummer Chris Daly from 108, and bassist Scott Winegard and singer and guitarist Garrett Klahn completed the lineup. Their name came from a lyric in the Misfits song "Bullet." After a self-titled EP on Revelation in 1995, they recorded this album at Oz Studio in Baltimore in December 1995, and it came out in April 1996.

The title comes from what are reported to be the last words John Lennon heard. Two of the song titles, "The Magic Bullet Theory" and "Back and to the Left," refer to theories about the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Texas Is the Reason broke up in 1997, shortly before they were due to sign with Capitol Records, and Daly went on to Jets to Brazil. The band reunited for shows in 2006 and 2012 and began playing together again in 2025.

The TX30 series opened with the self-titled EP on 12-inch vinyl. The third release collects the last three songs the band wrote, which were meant to begin a second album that was never finished.
