Indie Exclusive Translucent Pink Peak Vinyl, Die-Cut Jacket

This is the translucent pink Peak Vinyl edition of Endless Arcade, pressed for independent record stores and released by Merge Records in the US on April 30, 2021. The single LP sits in a die-cut jacket, with a printed inner sleeve carrying the lyrics and credits and a download card.

It was the band's first album after Gerard Love left at the end of 2018, following a run of shows in which Teenage Fanclub played their five Creation-era albums in full. Dave McGowan moved from keyboards and guitar to bass. Euros Childs, formerly of Gorky's Zygotic Mynci and Norman Blake's partner in the side project Jonny, joined on keyboards, and Francis Macdonald stayed on drums.

Recording began in January 2019 at Clouds Hill Recordings in Hamburg, where the band had mixed Here, and picked up there again in late November. More was done at Raymond McGinley's home studio in Glasgow and at Rockfield in Wales, with the band producing and David Henderson engineering. A release planned for October 2020 moved to March and then to April 2021, and Blake and McGinley spent the extra months on the mixes in Glasgow.

The title comes from McGinley's song, and he has described an endless arcade as "a city that you can wander through, with a sense of mystery, an imaginary one that goes on forever." Blake wrote and sings "Home," "I'm More Inclined" and "The Sun Won't Shine on Me"; McGinley wrote "Everything Is Falling Apart," first heard as an online single in February 2019, and "In Our Dreams." Metacritic averages the album's reviews at 79.
