2024 BMG CD Reissue

BMG returned Invasion of Your Privacy to CD on October 25, 2024, under catalog number 538680052. The disc keeps the original ten-song running order, a little over 36 minutes, and it arrived the same day as a limited LP edition pressed on segmented black, gray and white vinyl. Both were part of a wider run of Ratt reissues BMG put out with Rhino Entertainment that fall, alongside colored-vinyl editions of Dancing Undercover, Reach for the Sky and Detonator and a 40th anniversary edition of Out of the Cellar.

Ratt's second studio album first came out on Atlantic in 1985, a year after Out of the Cellar made the Los Angeles band a national act. Beau Hill produced and engineered it across sessions at Rumbo in Los Angeles and Atlantic's New York studios, and Ted Jensen mastered it at Sterling Sound. It peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 and was certified double Platinum by the RIAA. It also charted in Canada, the UK and Finland, and went Platinum in Canada and Gold in Japan.

"Lay It Down," the video above, was the first single, released in June 1985 and credited to Stephen Pearcy, Robbin Crosby, Warren DeMartini and Juan Croucier together. It reached No. 40 on the Billboard Hot 100. "You're in Love," the opening track, followed in the US that September, and "What You Give Is What You Get," the one song Croucier wrote alone, was issued as a single in Japan in early 1986. The model on the cover is Marianne Gravatte, who also appears in the "Lay It Down" video.

The lineup is the one that made the debut: Pearcy on lead vocals, Crosby and DeMartini on guitars, Croucier on bass and Bobby Blotzer on drums. Blotzer is the only member without a writing credit on the record.
