Weather Report's third album, recorded in a five-day stretch in February 1973, is the record where Joe Zawinul began steering the band away from open collective improvisation toward the funk and groove that would define its later work. The shift is clearest on its two long tracks, "Boogie Woogie Waltz" and "125th Street Congress," and Zawinul brought in drummer Herschel Dwellingham and percussionist Muruga Booker to deepen the rhythm. It was the last album to feature founding bassist Miroslav Vitous in the primary role, with Wayne Shorter on saxophones throughout. This reissue of the 1973 album is a 180-gram pressing from Music on Vinyl. Holland import.
