You Say I Romanticize is the third LP from Sweeping Promises -- bassist/vocalist Lira Mondal and guitarist/producer Caufield Schnug. Their debut Hunger for a Way Out was one of the breakout records of the 2020 lockdown punk underground, and 2023's Good Living Is Coming for You made Album of the Year lists at Pitchfork, NPR, Paste and the BBC. The new record was tracked over an 18-month stretch at the duo's combination tour house and studio in Kansas, with touring drummer Spenser Gralla brought into the sessions to push the songs toward the urgency of their live show. Mondal's vocals carry the record's frenzied execution -- shouting, roaring and hitting tricky notes across an intentional wall-of-sound, most of all on opener "Shooting Shadows" and the smoldering "Cocoon." This pressing is on yellow colored vinyl (Sub Pop, catalog SP1477).
