In The Groove is a 1973 recording by Soul Media, the band saxophonist Jiro Inagaki formed in 1969 with a clear mission: fuse jazz and rock. Here the sharpness of jazz leads, rock elements are dissolved and refined into a cutting edge, and funk is injected for drive, elasticity, and physical force - music that transcends the labels jazz-rock, jazz-funk, or fusion, and is often described as Soul Media's response to The Crusaders, a band Inagaki was paying close attention to at the time.

This pressing is Nippon Columbia's 2026 vinyl reissue on uncolored virgin vinyl (catalog HMJY-236), distributed in the US by Light in the Attic, street date September 4, 2026.
