Groovy Orange Vinyl

Under The Weather is pressed on Groovy Orange vinyl and limited to 300 copies. The LP is a joint release between Spinout Nuggets, covering the UK and Europe, and Shelflife Records, covering the US.

Lovejoy, the Brighton indie-pop band led by singer and guitarist Dick Preece, released a run of 7-inch singles, EPs and albums in the late 1990s and early 2000s; the debut single "A Taste Of The High Life" was followed by the debut album Songs In The Key Of Lovejoy. After an extended sabbatical the band returned in 2024 with ...And It's Love!, and Under The Weather is the album that follows it.

Preece wrote the songs here with two exceptions, both involving former Creation Records head Alan McGee: McGee wrote "Lovers," with additional lyrics by Preece, and the pair wrote "Let There Be Love" together. That song first appeared in March 2025 as a double A-side single on Spinout Nuggets and Creation Youth, in acoustic and electric versions, and the album carries the electric version. The single's notes compare that electric take to the darker Biff Bang Pow! sound of McGee's own band.

The label's notes describe the record as Lovejoy's most open, tender and quietly uplifting songs to date, written after a period in which life took a few unexpected turns.
