20th Anniversary 10-Inch Vinyl EP, Record Store Day 2018, Limited to 500 Copies
Bittersweet Valentines first appeared on CD in 1999. This 10-inch, pressed for Record Store Day 2018 in a run of 500 copies, was its first time on vinyl. The six songs were newly remastered for the release, which plays at 45 RPM and keeps the original Cavity Search catalog number, CSR 50.
Krebs recorded the EP in Portland in July 1999 at Jackpot! Recording Studio, with Larry Crane engineering, co-producing and playing bass. Krebs wrote every song and handled guitar, bass, percussion and piano himself. A 1999 review in In Music We Trust noted that he made it as a solo step away from his rock band of the time, the Gossamer Wings. The Record Store Day listing singles out "Powder Keg" and "Bittersweet" as two of his most popular songs.
The record comes from the same Portland label that issued his first solo album, Brigadier, in 1995. Cavity Search was founded in 1992 by Christopher Cooper and Denny Swofford, released Elliott Smith's debut Roman Candle that same year as Brigadier, and was inducted into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame in 2023.
Evergreen Vinyl ships records with care and attention to detail, using established carriers and packaging practices designed to protect physical media in transit.
