Pink Vinyl LP

Patsy Cline's Greatest Hits on pink vinyl: a single-LP Decca reissue, catalog number B0025035-01, issued in the US on September 13, 2019. The jacket carries the Decca logo and a Stereo mark, and the twelve songs keep the running order of the 1967 LP, six to a side. Distributor listings carry it as 12 Greatest Hits, the name the album took for its 1988 CD reissue.

Decca first issued the collection in 1967, four years after Cline's death, gathering hits released between 1957 and 1963; seven of the twelve were Top 10 country singles. Owen Bradley produced. The tracks were recorded in Nashville between November 16, 1960, and February 7, 1963, with the Jordanaires on background vocals, Floyd Cramer on piano and organ, and Grady Martin and Hank Garland on electric guitar.

The original release peaked at number 17 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart. The RIAA certified it double Platinum in 1989, making Cline the first woman in country music to reach that level of sales, and by 2005 it had sold 10 million copies in the US for a Diamond certification. Guinness World Records lists it for the most weeks on the US Country chart by a female artist; it was still charting in 2001, 722 weeks after it first entered.

"Walkin' After Midnight" appears here in its 1961 Decca re-recording, not the 1957 single Cline cut while under contract to Four Star. "Crazy," written by Willie Nelson, went to number 2 country and number 9 on the Hot 100, while "I Fall to Pieces" and "She's Got You" both reached number 1 country. "Faded Love," a Bob Wills song, made its first album appearance on this collection, and "You're Stronger Than Me" is a faster, earlier take that had gone unreleased.
