Moonlight Blue Marble 150g 2LP Deluxe Edition

Two 150-gram LPs in Moonlight Blue Marble, catalog number NW7081LP on New West Records. New West describes it as the album's first color vinyl release and its first time on vinyl in more than a decade. The deluxe edition adds a fourth side: live versions of "Won't Be Home," "Smokers," "Friends Forever" and "The New Kid," recorded at the Troubadour in Los Angeles. The label states the reissue was digitally remastered from the original analog tapes with the band involved.

Drag It Up first came out on New West on July 27, 2004, three years after Satellite Rides. Mark Neill produced it, with sessions at Soil of the South in San Diego and at Dreamland Recording Studios in Hurley, New York, a studio built inside a converted 19th-century church. The title comes from a line in "Smokers," one of two songs here sung by bassist Murry Hammond, the other being "In The Satellite Rides A Star." Guitarist Ken Bethea takes the lead vocal on "Coahuila"; Rhett Miller is the band's principal singer. Every song is credited to all four members: Miller, Bethea, Hammond and drummer Philip Peeples.

Chris Lawrence adds pedal steel to "Moonlight" and "Blinding Sheets Of Rain," Archie Thompson plays piano on "Borrowed Bride," and Mitch Manker of the Ray Charles Orchestra plays trumpet on "Adelaide." The album reached No. 120 on the Billboard 200. Cleveland Scene called it "joyous alt-country," and No Depression observed that at least half the record is subdued in tone and tempo, adding that the approach "suits the songs."
