In the Rainbow Rain is the ninth studio album by Okkervil River, released by ATO Records on April 27, 2018. This is the black vinyl LP, five songs to a side, with a download of the full album.
Will Sheff produced it. According to the label, the band went into the studio straight off the world tour behind 2016's Away and recorded many of the songs live. Sheff said he had meant to continue in the vein of Away, but the new songs came out "more electric and playful - it was a happy sound, because I was happier than I'd been in years."
Shawn Everett mixed the album and Bob Ludwig mastered it. Rob Moose wrote the string arrangements, and Jeremy Miranda painted the cover. "Don't Move Back to L.A.," the video above, was the first single, announced with the album in February 2018; "Pulled Up the Ribbon" and "Famous Tracheotomies" followed.
