180g Black Vinyl 2LP With Signed Art Card

This edition of Consentrik Quartet puts the album on two 180-gram black LPs and adds an art card signed by Nels Cline. The jacket carries the same artwork as the standard black double LP. What sets this one apart is a hype sticker with its own barcode. Thomas Dimuzio mastered the album at Gench Studio in San Francisco, and Ryan Smith did the vinyl mastering at Sterling Sound in Nashville. The twelve pieces are spread across four sides.

The record is the first by the Consentrik Quartet: Cline on electric and acoustic guitars, Ingrid Laubrock on tenor and soprano saxophones, Chris Lightcap on acoustic bass and Tom Rainey on drums. It is Cline's fourth album for Blue Note. He wrote every composition and produced the sessions. Eli Crews recorded the band at The Bunker in Brooklyn in February and July 2024, then mixed it with Cline at Spillway in West Hurley, New York. Philadelphia's Ars Nova Workshop commissioned half of the compositions.

Cline has played guitar in Wilco since 2004 and has appeared on more than 150 albums across jazz, rock, country and experimental music. Rolling Stone placed him 82nd on its 2011 list of the greatest guitarists. Two pieces here carry dedications: "Satomi" is for Satomi Matsuzaki of Deerhoof, and "The Bag" is for Rainey. The cover reproduces "Magata Jinja," a painting by Hiroki Katayama. Blue Note issued "The 23" and "Down Close" as singles, both with live performance videos.
