Black Vinyl 2LP

As Time Explodes is the live record of the 2025 Love Earth tour, the run of shows Neil Young & The Chrome Hearts played across Europe and North America after Talkin To The Trees came out that June. Thirteen performances fill two black LPs, drawn from twelve different stops on the tour.

The record opens with "Daddy Went Walkin'" from Meadowbrook Farm in Gilford, New Hampshire, and the stops that follow include the Waldbühne in Berlin, Malahide Castle outside Dublin and Hyde Park in London, where "After The Gold Rush" was recorded. The 14-minute "Cortez The Killer" on Side C comes from Bergen, Norway, and "Be The Rain" from Deer Lake Park in Burnaby, British Columbia. "Big Crime," a new song at the time, was caught at the Farm Aid sound check in Minneapolis; the video above shows the band working through it at an earlier sound check in Chicago.

On stage: Neil Young on guitar, pump organ, piano, harmonica and vocals; Spooner Oldham on organ and piano; Micah Nelson on guitar, Stringman and vocals; Corey McCormick on bass and vocals; and Anthony LoGerfo on drums and vocals. Lou Adler produced the album with the Volume Dealers, Young and Niko Bolas, with LoGerfo as associate producer, and Chris Bellman cut the lacquers.

The set list reaches back to "Ohio" from 1970 and forward to "Silver Eagle" from Talkin To The Trees, with "Harvest Moon," "Vampire Blues" and a ten-minute "Like A Hurricane" in between. The two records sit in black die-cut paper inner sleeves inside a gatefold jacket, with a Neil Young Archives site map tucked in.
