180 Gram Import Vinyl LP, Remastered

This is the import edition of the 2009 Neil Young Archives Official Release Series pressing of Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere. It is a single 180-gram LP in a glossy tip-on gatefold jacket, mastered at Bernie Grundman Mastering in Hollywood from the original analog master tapes, and the gold sticker on the front reads "Because Sound Matters." The labels are marked as manufactured in Germany.

Released in May 1969, it was Young's second solo album and his first with Crazy Horse: Danny Whitten on guitar, Billy Talbot on bass and Ralph Molina on drums, who had been playing together as the Rockets before they met him. In his memoir Waging Heavy Peace, Young recalls writing "Cinnamon Girl," "Down By The River" and "Cowgirl In The Sand" on a single day while running a fever of 103 degrees.

It charted slowly, peaking at number 34 on the Billboard 200 in August 1970, more than a year after release, during a 98-week chart stay, and the RIAA has certified it platinum. "Down By The River" runs past nine minutes to close Side A, and "Cowgirl In The Sand" runs past ten to close Side B. The opening track, "Cinnamon Girl," is above as official audio.
