Southern Lord's 2026 repress of Nails' second full-length, back on black vinyl under the label's original catalog number, LORD 172. The label's store also lists the album on silver, clear and red vinyl. Ten tracks across two sides, the whole album finished in a little over seventeen minutes.
Abandon All Life was recorded between December 27, 2012 and January 2, 2013 at GodCity Recording in Salem, Massachusetts, with Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou producing, engineering and mixing, as he had on the band's 2010 debut, Unsilent Death. Brad Boatright mastered it at Audiosiege. The band at the time was Todd Jones on vocals and guitar, John Gianelli on bass and Taylor Young on drums, with Andy Saba adding lead guitar. The painted cover is by Farron Kerzner.
Southern Lord's own notes describe the record as "a horrifying brand of Death/ Grind/ Hardcore chaos." It drew a Metacritic score of 80 on release, with Pitchfork's Brandon Stosuy rating it 8.0. Only the closer, "Suum Cuique," runs past four minutes; "Cry Wolf" is over in under thirty seconds. Abandon All Life sits between Unsilent Death and 2016's You Will Never Be One of Us.
