Palisade Green Translucent Vinyl 3LP Box Set With Booklet

Might As Well Be Here is Numero Group's box of Mineral's complete Crank!-era recordings (catalog NUM234), pressed on three LPs in Palisade Green, a light green translucent colorway, and housed in a rigid box. The first two records are replicas of the band's two studio albums, The Power of Failing and EndSerenading. The third, ...And What Remains, is a new collection of singles and demos. A booklet by Nina Corcoran traces the band's history and is illustrated with period photographs, flyers and lyrics.

Mineral began in Texas in 1994 with Chris Simpson on guitar and vocals, Scott McCarver on guitar, Jeremy Gomez on bass and Gabriel Wiley on drums, and signed a three-album deal with Crank!. The Power of Failing was recorded between January and October 1996 at Music Lane Recording Studios in Austin. The LP here carries the album's full ten-song program, including "80-37" and "Take The Picture Now," which were left off the original vinyl issue. Pitchfork's Brandon Stosuy wrote that "its raw feel and execution matches its emotions."

The band played its final show in 1997. EndSerenading arrived on August 25, 1998, after the split: the four recorded basic tracks before a tour, and Simpson later went out alone to finish most of the vocals and some guitar, knowing it would be the band's last release. Simpson and Gomez went on to form The Gloria Record, and McCarver and Wiley formed Imbroco. ...And What Remains gathers both sides of the 1996 February / M.D. single and Love My Way, alongside a demo of "Slower" and alternate versions of "Five, Eight And Ten," "Gloria" and "Parking Lot." Mineral reunited in 2014 and disbanded again in 2025, closing with a set at the Best Friends Forever festival in Las Vegas.
