2017 Remaster On 180-Gram LP With Lyric Sheet And Download Card
Metallica's own Blackened Recordings issued this remastered single LP of Master Of Puppets on November 10, 2017, catalog number BLCKND005R-1, on 180-gram vinyl. The package includes a printed sheet with lyrics, credits and photographs, plus a download card. The same reissue also came as a standard CD, a three-CD expanded edition and a deluxe box set.
The band recorded the album between September and December 1985 at Sweet Silence Studios in Copenhagen and mixed it at Amigo Studios in North Hollywood. Elektra released it in 1986, and it peaked at No. 29 on the Billboard album chart. Blackened's notes call it the first Metallica album certified platinum by the RIAA; it has since been certified six times platinum in the US. In 2016 it became the first metal album added to the Library of Congress's National Recording Registry.
It is the last Metallica album with bassist Cliff Burton, who died in a tour bus accident later in 1986. The title track, in the official lyric video above, is the second song on side A.
