Black With White Drops Vinyl LP In Gatefold Jacket
This is a 2026 Metal Blade Records pressing of The Spin on black vinyl with white drops, catalog number 3984-16176-1. It comes in a gatefold jacket with an insert and a download card. The album was first released on April 11, 2025, when Metal Blade's US vinyl edition was white.
The Spin is the fourth album by Messa, the doom band from Bassano del Grappa in northern Italy, and their first for Metal Blade. The band wrote it over six weeks of daily sessions in a 500-year-old villa near their hometown, then recorded it in three separate locations and at different times, where its predecessor Close had been tracked with everyone in one room. Maurizio "Icio" Baggio produced, mixed and mastered the record and engineered part of it.
The band has described the album as adding an early 1980s goth rock and darkwave influence to their sound, naming the Sisters of Mercy, Virgin Prunes and Killing Joke among its touchstones. Michele Tedesco plays the trumpet solo on "The Dress," Andrea Mantione of Nuovo Testamento adds synths to "Fire On The Roof," and the cover art is by Nico Vascellari. "At Races," whose video appears above, was the first single.
