Fat Wreck Chords pressed this reissue of Are A Drag on neon green vinyl in 2026, catalog number FAT586-1.
The album first came out on May 18, 1999 as Fat release #586, the band's second full-length. Almost every song is a show tune, and the title nods to the fact that Spike Slawson is mostly singing parts written for female characters. On the cover the band poses in drag as characters from five of the musicals, including Dorothy Gale, Annie and Dr. Frank-N-Furter.
Slawson sings, Chris Shiflett plays lead guitar under the name Jake Jackson, Joey Cape plays rhythm guitar, Fat Mike plays bass and Dave Raun drums, with Karina Denike and Sara K. Fisher on backing vocals. Ryan Greene produced it with the band. A few punk quotes are tucked into the arrangements: "Favorite Things" opens on Bad Religion's "Generator," and Fat Mike works a line from Cheap Trick's "Surrender" into the end of "Tomorrow." The whole record runs about 26 minutes.
Evergreen Vinyl ships records with care and attention to detail, using established carriers and packaging practices designed to protect physical media in transit.
