White Vinyl LP, 45 RPM, RSD Black Friday 2023 Exclusive, Limited to 2,500 Copies

Gory Scorch Cretins came out on vinyl as one 12-inch white LP cut at 45 RPM. Keep It Trippy Records issued it as a Record Store Day Black Friday exclusive on November 24, 2023, in a run of 2,500 copies, and GZ Media pressed it. The five songs did not reach streaming services until January 2024, two months after the record was in shops.

Matt Cameron drummed for Soundgarden from 1986 and for Pearl Jam from 1998 to 2025. He wrote every song here, and on this record he sings and plays guitar and bass as well as drums. The project started at the 2019 Chris Cornell tribute concert in Los Angeles, where the Melvins also played. After the show Cameron emailed Buzz Osborne and asked whether he, Dale Crover, Steven McDonald and Toshi Kasai would help him record some solo material he had on hand. Osborne plays lead and rhythm guitar, Crover adds drums and guitar, and McDonald plays bass. Kasai produced with Seattle musician Nate Yaccino, who also plays guitar, and Meagan Grandall sings.

The sessions took place at Sound of Sirens in Sun Valley, California, and at the Ballard Bait Shop in Seattle, and JJ Golden mastered the record. "Down The Middle" first came out as a digital single in 2020. The rear sleeve dedicates the record to Taylor Hawkins.

The title and jacket nod to the Melvins' 1987 debut album, Gluey Porch Treatments. Cameron has said he has been a Melvins fan since he first saw them play in Seattle around 1985. He reworked the band's artwork with their permission. Victor Hayden is credited with the original art, and Josh Graham with the manipulation and design.
