Definitive Sound Series One-Step 180g Vinyl, Numbered Edition of 3,000

This is the Definitive Sound Series edition of Let's Get It On: a one-time run of 3,000 individually numbered copies from Interscope-Capitol's audiophile line, issued on Motown. Chris Bellman cut it at Bernie Grundman Mastering from the original analog master tapes, so the signal path stays all-analog (AAA) from tape to disc.

One-Step plating drops the intermediate generations that conventional pressing places between the lacquer and the finished record. Dorin Sauerbier carried out that process at Record Technology, Inc., where the disc was pressed on Neotech VR900-D2 180-gram high-definition vinyl.

The LP comes in a heavyweight tip-on gatefold jacket, housed in a custom slipcase that carries the original album artwork, together with a certificate of authenticity documenting the mastering, plating and pressing chain. Tom "Grover" Biery produced the One-Step reissue for Motown Records, and GPA Global made the packaging.

Gaye's twelfth studio album first appeared on Motown's Tamla imprint in August 1973, co-produced with Ed Townsend from sessions held between 1970 and 1973 in Detroit and at Hitsville West in Los Angeles, with members of the Funk Brothers, bassist James Jamerson among them, on most of the instrumentation. The title track went to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, the album reached No. 2 and finished as the best-selling soul album of 1973, and it entered the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2004.
