This is the 2017 Contender Records vinyl pressing of Dirty Pictures (Part 1), Low Cut Connie's fourth studio album: ten songs on a single LP, five to a side, with an MP3 download included.
Frontman Adam Weiner produced the record, and the band cut it live to analog tape at Ardent Studios in Memphis, the studio known for Big Star and ZZ Top. The lineup on the sessions was Weiner on piano and vocals, James Everhart on lead guitar, Will Donnelly on rhythm guitar, Larry Scotton on drums and Lucas Rinz on bass.
"Revolution Rock N Roll" opens the album and was its first single. "Controversy" is a Prince cover, and "Forever" was written as a tribute to musicians who had recently died. Weiner set out the aim in the album's announcement: "I really wanted to go deeper with this record." The video above is the official clip for "Dirty Water," the second song on side A.
Rolling Stone's review set the band alongside the Rolling Stones, the New York Dolls, Jerry Lee Lewis and Paul Westerberg. The album was planned as the first of two parts, and Dirty Pictures (Part 2) followed on Contender in 2018.
