Transparent Orange 140g Vinyl LP

This 2026 Rhino reissue presents Da Capo as a single 140g LP pressed on transparent orange vinyl, a stereo pressing carrying the original Elektra cover and label art under catalog number RCV1 74005. Side one holds the album's six songs; side two is given over entirely to the 19-minute "Revelation."

Da Capo was Love's second album, released by Elektra in November 1966. "7 and 7 Is" was recorded at Sunset Sound in June 1966, the last session by the original five-piece band, and became the group's highest-charting single at No. 33 on the Billboard Hot 100. Most of the album followed at RCA Victor's Hollywood studio in September and October, produced by Paul A. Rothchild with Jac Holzman supervising and engineered by Dave Hassinger, before the band returned to Sunset Sound to finish with "Revelation"; Bruce Botnick handled the mix. By then the lineup had grown to seven: Arthur Lee, Johnny Echols, Bryan MacLean and Ken Forssi, with Alban "Snoopy" Pfisterer moving from drums to organ and harpsichord, and newcomers Tjay Cantrelli on saxophone and flute and Michael Stuart-Ware on drums.

"Revelation" grew out of a live jam the band called "John Lee Hooker." They recorded about 45 minutes of it, which Rothchild edited down, and Pfisterer's harpsichord passage quoting a Bach partita was spliced onto its beginning and end. The album peaked at No. 80 on Billboard's Top LPs chart in April 1967. AllMusic's Richie Unterberger called its first side "a truly classic body of work," and the record is included in 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.
