Super Deluxe Edition Box: 2LP, 2CD, Hardbound Book, Numbered Print And HD Download Card

The Super Deluxe Edition is the largest configuration of Atlantic's 2014 reissue of the fourth Led Zeppelin album, released October 27, 2014, under catalog number R2-536185. The box carries the music twice, on two 180-gram LPs and two CDs, together with a hardbound book, a numbered art print and a card for 24-bit/96kHz downloads of all of the audio. Rhino describes the book as filled with rare and previously unseen photos and memorabilia.

The remastered album sits on the first LP, in a sleeve replicating the first pressing, and on a CD in a vinyl-replica sleeve. The companion LP and the companion CD, which comes in a card wallet, both carry new alternate cover art: an inverted-color version of the original painting and wallpaper.

On both formats the companion disc holds previously unreleased versions of the same eight songs in album order. Those include "Black Dog" as a basic track with guitar overdubs, an alternate UK mix of "When The Levee Breaks," and the alternate mix of "Rock And Roll" in the official video above.

Jimmy Page oversaw the remastering. John Davis cut the lacquers, and Pallas pressed the records.

The band began the album at Island Studios in London in December 1970 and recorded most of the basic tracks at Headley Grange in Hampshire, using the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio with engineer Andy Johns. Page mixed the tapes at Sunset Sound in Los Angeles in February 1971, then remixed the whole album that July. Atlantic released it on November 8, 1971. It reached No. 1 in the UK, where it spent 90 weeks on the chart, and No. 2 on the Billboard 200 in the US.
