Limited Edition Translucent Purple 2LP in Gatefold Sleeve

Spinefarm Records reissued Killing Joke's 2003 self-titled album as a double LP pressed on translucent purple vinyl. The two discs come in a gatefold jacket with two printed inner sleeves. The spine and the A/B side labels carry catalog number SPINE593617, and the C/D labels carry SPINE593608.

The four sides hold twelve tracks. The last two, "Inferno" and "Zennon", first appeared as bonus tracks on two different CD editions in 2003: "Inferno" on the UK disc and "Zennon" on the Japanese one. This set puts both in a single running order.

The album was first released on July 28, 2003 through Zuma Recordings. It was the band's eleventh studio album and their first in seven years, following Democracy in 1996. It was also their second self-titled record after their 1980 debut, which is why it often goes by Killing Joke 2003. Jaz Coleman and Dave Grohl had first planned to call it Axis of Evil, after its political lyrics.

Andy Gill of Gang of Four produced the album, mostly at his Beauchamp Building studio in London. Grohl, a longtime fan of the band, played every drum part. He recorded them at Grand Master in Los Angeles, working from the band's drum-machine patterns. The album reached number 43 on the UK Albums Chart. Two singles came from it: "Loose Cannon" in July 2003 and "Seeing Red" that October.
