Black Vinyl 3LP In Triple Gatefold Sleeve

This is the first vinyl edition of Trip Advizer, Julian Cope's survey of his post-major-label years, presented by Weird Walk and Cope's own Lord Yatesbury label under catalog number LY10LP. The 16-track single CD of 2015 is expanded here to 28 tracks spread across three black LPs, and the span moves from 1999-2014 to 1999-2018. The records are housed in a triple gatefold sleeve whose front reads "3LP Edition" and "Pagan Declamations From A High Place," and Cope has written new liner notes for it, laid out as an "A-Z of The Trip."

The release is part of the Weird Walk Record Cult, an occasional series of limited editions the Weird Walk team issues for records it loves. Weird Walk's notes cite Cope's book The Modern Antiquarian, his survey of Britain's megalithic sites, as a signpost for a generation of fellow seekers. In Cope's own words: "My job down the years has become increasingly clear: to reveal anything I can that might be culturally useful, and to do it always in a catchy-bastard manner. Or, more simply, to be your Trip Advizer."

Lord Yatesbury first issued Trip Advizer in January 2015 as a single CD. Cope said at the time that he chose one disc over a 2CD package so he could act as a "super-editor" and get to the point. Its songs were drawn from Floored Genius 3 (2000), Rome Wasn't Burned In A Day (2003), Citizen Cain'd and Dark Orgasm (both 2005), You Gotta Problem With Me (2007), Black Sheep (2008), Psychedelic Revolution (2012) and Revolutionary Suicide (2013), plus two previously unreleased recordings: "Julian In The Underworld" and a new version of "Psychedelic Revolution" with Cope on lead vocals in place of Lucy Brownhills. Record Collector's Oregano Rathbone gave the CD four stars out of five, writing that it "consistently delivers defining examples of Cope's artistic validity," and Mark Beaumont, reviewing for Louder, called it "dark, demented and manically mysterious."
