First Pressing on Clear with Black Smoke Vinyl

This is the first pressing of Railroad Cadences & Melancholic Anthems: a single LP on clear vinyl run through with black smoke, issued by Jealous Butcher Records under catalog number JB217 on May 20, 2022, with a digital download included. The nine pieces are spread five and four across the two sides.

Drummer Jose Medeles, of the Breeders, 1939 Ensemble and Portland's Revival Drum Shop, built the album as a drummer's tribute to the guitarist John Fahey. It is a set of guitar and drum duets with three guitarists: M. Ward, the experimental player Marisa Anderson, and Chris Funk of the Decemberists. In the label's description it holds no Fahey compositions at all, but a series of improvised meetings informed by the looseness and rhythmic quirks of his playing. Each track names its guest: Anderson plays on four, Funk on three and Ward on two.

The duets were recorded in 2020 at Bocce Recording in Vancouver, Washington, where John Askew recorded and mixed them; Amy Dragon mastered the record at Telegraph Mastering. Medeles has compared the plain, close sound of the sessions to the field recordings of Alan Lomax and Chris Strachwitz, calling the results "pure and honest recordings." The collage cover is the work of John King, with design by Rob Jones.

Shipping Speeds & Delivery Estimates

Delivery timelines are estimates, not guarantees.

Estimated delivery windows are quoted at checkout based on the shipping speed you select and your delivery address. Transit time begins after your order has been processed.

Typical delivery within the United States ranges from 3–7 business days after shipment, depending on location and selected service. Delivery times for Canada vary by destination and carrier, and may be affected by customs processing.

While most deliveries arrive within the quoted window, occasional delays may occur due to weather, carrier volume, or other factors outside our control.

Shipping Rates

Shipping costs are calculated and displayed at checkout based on destination, package weight, and selected delivery speed.

Signature Requirements

Orders totaling over $250 may require a signature upon delivery to help ensure safe receipt. This is applied based on order value and carrier guidelines.

Once your order ships, you’ll receive tracking information via email. We recommend monitoring tracking updates and ensuring delivery to a secure location.

Evergreen Vinyl is not responsible for packages that are lost or stolen after being marked as delivered by the carrier. Customers are responsible for selecting a shipping address where deliveries can be received safely.

• Please retain all original packaging, including the outer box and packing materials

• Original shipping costs are non-refundable unless the error was ours

• Refund timing may vary depending on your payment provider

Chargebacks & Payment Disputes

We strongly encourage customers to contact us directly with any concerns before filing a credit card dispute or chargeback.

Once a dispute or chargeback has been initiated, we are unable to proceed with refunds, replacements, or reshipments until the case is fully resolved. Resolution timelines are controlled by the payment processor and can take up to 120 days.
