Limited Edition 5LP Box Set on 180-Gram Vinyl

This limited edition box gathers five John Mellencamp albums from 1982 to 1989 on 180-gram vinyl: American Fool, Uh-Huh, Scarecrow, The Lonesome Jubilee and Big Daddy. Mercury and UMe released it on June 10, 2016, alongside the same five LPs sold separately. For these reissues Chris Bellman cut new lacquers from the original analog master tapes at Bernie Grundman Mastering, and each album keeps its own jacket inside the box.

American Fool (1982) went to No. 1 on the Billboard 200, was the best-selling album in the US that year and is certified five times platinum; it carries "Jack & Diane," the video above, and the Grammy-winning "Hurts So Good." Uh-Huh (1983) reached No. 9 and holds triple platinum, with "Crumblin' Down" and "Pink Houses." Scarecrow (1985) peaked at No. 2 and went five times platinum on the strength of "R.O.C.K. in the U.S.A.," "Small Town" and "Lonely Ol' Night."

The Lonesome Jubilee (1987) reached No. 6, is certified triple platinum and produced the Top 10 singles "Cherry Bomb" and "Paper in Fire." Big Daddy (1989) peaked at No. 7 and went platinum, with "Pop Singer" and "Martha Say" both reaching the Mainstream Rock Top 10. Don Gehman engineered and co-produced the first four records, which were made at rooms including Cherokee Studios, Criteria Recording Studios, Belmont Mall Studio and The Shack in Jackson County, Indiana.
