Indie Exclusive Clear Orange Smoke Vinyl LP

A limited repress of Country Club on clear orange smoke vinyl, issued by Yep Roc Records through independent record stores for Record Store Day's Black Friday 2026 slate. Yep Roc's notes say the album had been out of print for years before this pressing. All fifteen tracks fit on a single LP. The first vinyl edition, in 2009, was a 180-gram LP with a download card.

The record started, in Yep Roc's telling, with a post-show hang between John Doe of X and The Knitters and the Toronto band The Sadies, and a plan to make an album of country songs together. Yep Roc released it in 2009, and it reached No. 32 on the US country albums chart. Songs associated with Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Tammy Wynette and Roger Miller sit alongside four originals: three by The Sadies and one, "It Just Dawned on Me," written by Doe with Exene Cervenka.

Doe sings and plays guitar, with brothers Dallas and Travis Good on guitars, Travis adding fiddle and mandolin, Sean Dean on bass and Mike Belitsky on drums. Kathleen Edwards and Cindy Wasserman add vocals, D.J. Bonebrake plays vibraphone, and Eric Heywood and Bob Egan play pedal steel. Dallas Good and Don Pyle mixed the album, and Peter Moore mastered it. Dallas Good, who co-founded The Sadies in 1994, died in February 2022 at 48. Reviewing the album for PopMatters, Jayson Harsin wrote, "The result is impressive overall."
