50th Anniversary 180 Gram Vinyl LP

Proper Records issued this single LP on November 21, 2025, fifty years after Diamonds & Rust first came out on A&M. Proper's notes describe it as a faithful replica of the original A&M UK release, pressed on 180-gram vinyl under catalog number UMCLP075, with five songs on side one and six on side two.

Diamonds & Rust is Baez's sixteenth studio album. It was recorded in January 1975 at A&M's Hollywood studios and Wally Heider's Studio 3, with David Kershenbaum producing alongside Baez and Larry Carlton. Proper's notes say the album gave her songs a more commercial finish and returned her to the US Top 20 for the first time in four years; it was later certified gold in the United States.

Four of the songs are Baez originals. The rest come from Jackson Browne, Stevie Wonder and Syreeta Wright, Bob Dylan, Dickey Betts, John Prine and Janis Ian. The title track, written in November 1974, reached the US top 40 as a single, and Baez has said its lyrics refer to her relationship with Dylan. Her reading of "Simple Twist of Fate" was taken from Dylan's then-new Blood on the Tracks, and "Dida" is a duet with Joni Mitchell. The reissue follows Monica Barbaro's Academy Award-nominated portrayal of Baez in the Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown.
