Record Store Day 2026 Exclusive Double LP on Black Vinyl

Live A L'Olympia reaches vinyl for the first time here, 25 years after its 2001 CD release. Columbia and Legacy issued it as a Record Store Day exclusive on April 18, 2026, in a run of 15,400 copies: two black LPs over four sides, catalog number 19958414501.

Ten of the eleven performances come from two nights at the Paris Olympia, July 6 and 7, 1995, on the European tour that followed Grace. France had already taken to him by then. Earlier that year Buckley had been awarded the Grand Prix International du Disque, and on these nights he stops partway through some songs to talk to the room. He also changes the words to "Hallelujah" as he goes, in answer to the audience.

The set runs from Grace songs such as "Lover, You Should've Come Over," "Dream Brother" and the title track to a wide spread of covers: the MC5's "Kick Out the Jams," a short Led Zeppelin parody of "Kashmir," "Je n'en connais pas la fin" from Edith Piaf's repertoire, and "That's All I Ask," a song Nina Simone recorded. That last one is one of only two officially released versions of it by Buckley. The other is on a three-track bonus disc that came with Australian copies of Mystery White Boy.

Side D closes away from Paris. "What Will You Say" was recorded on July 18, 1995, at the Festival of Sacred Music in Saint-Florent-le-Vieil, as a duet with the Azerbaijani mugham singer Alim Qasimov. Buckley plays guitar and Qasimov plays daf, and the two trade vocal lines competitively in the manner of traditional Qawwali. No other recording of that performance has been released.

Mary Guibert, Michael Tighe and Michael J. Clouse produced the album. It was Buckley's second posthumous live release, after Mystery White Boy in 2000. Pitchfork gave the original edition 8.3 out of 10.
