CD in Jewel Case

This is the compact disc edition of Frozen Charlotte, issued by Third Man Records under catalog number TMR1062CD alongside the album's vinyl and cassette editions. It comes in a jewel case with a clear tray and a four-page booklet. The disc face is printed with a close-up of the album's blue skull, ringed by Third Man's Nashville credit line.

The front cover is a photograph of a sculpture White made for his exhibition These Thoughts May Disappear at London's Newport Street Gallery. It shows a blue death's head set on the body of a Frozen Charlotte, a style of penny doll named after a folk ballad about a girl who froze to death. This CD carries the blue-headed artwork. A variant with a white head was issued under the alternate title Frozen Charlatan.

Frozen Charlotte is White's seventh studio album. He produced it himself at Third Man Studio in Nashville, and it marks the first time he has made two solo albums in a row with the same band. Bassist Dominic Davis and drummer Patrick Keeler return from No Name (2024), joined by Hammond organist Bobby Emmett, who came in for the No Name tour. Much of the new material took shape on that tour, and "Neighbors Blues" was first worked up on stage. Davis has said the band's shared love of Deep Purple is where the organ-and-guitar sound comes from. Bill Skibbe mixed the record with White and mastered it. Guest players include Daru Jones on drums for "Nobody Knows", Olivia Jean on bass for "I Can't Believe What I'm Hearing" and David James Swanson on percussion for "She's In A Frenzy".

"G.O.D. And The Broken Ribs" and "Derecho Demonico" came out first, on a limited seven-inch in April 2026, and the band played both on Saturday Night Live. "Dollar Bill" followed when the album was announced in June. Frozen Charlotte was released on July 10, 2026, the day White's North American tour opened. It reached No. 32 on the Billboard 200, No. 1 on Billboard's Independent Albums chart and No. 29 on the UK Albums Chart, and Metacritic gives it an average score of 83 from seventeen reviews. The video for "G.O.D. And The Broken Ribs" at the top of this page was made by Liam Lynch.
