Cherry Red Records' reissue of Martin + Me is pressed on transparent yellow vinyl under catalog number PBRED828, a single LP with seven tracks on each side. The label's notes call the album long out of print before this edition, and it was announced alongside Fed Up And Feeling Strange, a 3CD set of Mascis's solo recordings that also carries the album.
Martin + Me was J Mascis's first solo album. It was first released in 1996 on Baked Goods/Reprise and produced by Mascis himself. It documents a solo acoustic tour of the US in late 1995, and the Martin of the title is his Martin guitar.
The fourteen acoustic recordings set Dinosaur Jr songs such as "Repulsion", "Get Me" and "Keeblin" beside covers of The Smiths' "The Boy With The Thorn In His Side", Carly Simon's "Anticipation" and Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Every Mother's Son". "On The Run" comes from Greg Sage of the Wipers, whose guitar work on the band's Over the Edge Mascis has cited as a foundational influence.
