Remastered CD Reissue With Three Bonus Tracks

Big Time and Universal Music remastered Stoneage Romeos for this 2018 Australian CD, catalog number BTCD001, pressed by Sony DADC Australia. It runs the original eleven-song album and then three bonus tracks: Leilani Pt 2, Be My Guru, and a live Hoodoo You Love recorded at the Trade Union Club in Sydney in 1984. Lindsay McDougall of Frenzal Rhomb wrote the liner notes.

The sleeve is the Australian one, Yanni Stumbles' Day-Glo dinosaurs, rather than the alternate artwork A&M used when it issued the album in the United States on 7 September 1984. Dave Faulkner later called that American cover "bad coffeetable art, very anonymous and boring."

Stoneage Romeos is the Hoodoo Gurus' debut album, released in Australia in March 1984 on Big Time Records. Alan Thorne produced and engineered it. The lineup was Faulkner on guitar, lead vocals and keyboards, Brad Shepherd on lead guitar, vocals, harmonica and percussion, Clyde Bramley on bass and vocals, and James Baker on drums. Faulkner wrote the album, with co-writing credits to Baker, Darcy Condon and Roddy Radalj on (Let's All) Turn On, Radalj on Arthur, Radalj and Alan Sharples on Death Ship, and Baker, Radalj and Kimble Rendall on Leilani.

Four singles came off the record: Leilani in October 1982, Tojo in June 1983, My Girl in October 1983 and I Want You Back in March 1984. My Girl was released with a film clip about a greyhound of the same name, and radio and television support for it grew the band's following. The album won Best Debut Album at the 1984 Countdown Awards, and in October 2010 John O'Donnell, Toby Creswell and Craig Mathieson placed it inside the top thirty of their book 100 Best Australian Albums. The title is borrowed from a Three Stooges short.
