Helium is the fourth album from Homeshake, the project of Montreal singer-songwriter Peter Sagar, released by Sinderlyn on February 15, 2019. This is the standard black vinyl LP, catalog number LYN-045.
Sagar recorded and mixed Helium alone in his Montreal apartment in early 2018, after three records cut directly to one-inch tape in a local studio. Per the label's notes, the chords of a Roland Juno 60 form the album's base, and short synthesizer interludes link the songs. "Ever since I started introducing synthesizers into my music, I've gotten more interested in texture," Sagar said at the time.
Before Homeshake became his focus, Sagar played guitar in Mac DeMarco's live band, leaving in early 2014. Helium followed In the Shower (2014), Midnight Snack (2015) and Fresh Air (2017), and "Like Mariah" and "Nothing Could Be Better" were released as singles in 2018 ahead of it.
