Baby Blue Vinyl, Single LP

Reprise issued this pressing on September 29, 2023, the same day as the album's 30th-anniversary program. The anniversary box sets released alongside it add outtakes, demos and two live concert recordings; this one is the 1994 album by itself, on baby blue vinyl. The disc label prints fourteen titles, with "All by Myself" following "F.O.D." unlisted at the end of side two.

Dookie came out on February 1, 1994. Green Day had signed a five-album deal with Reprise in April 1993 and left Lookout! Records on terms that let them keep the rights to their Lookout! albums. Rob Cavallo produced the record with the band.

It was mixed twice. Armstrong has said the band wanted the first mix dry, the way the Sex Pistols record and the early Black Sabbath records sound, and they found the result unsatisfactory; Cavallo and Jerry Finn remixed it at Devonshire Sound Studios in North Hollywood. During that work the band went to Music Grinder in Hollywood to re-record "Chump" and "Longview," whose original takes carried too much tape hiss, with Mike Dirnt switching to a Gibson Les Paul bass for the two. "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" was recorded in the same sessions and left off; it reappeared three years later on Nimrod.

The cover is by Richie Bucher, an East Bay artist and musician. Armstrong has said the band wanted someone who would stand for the scene they came from, and that there are pieces of the band buried in the drawing. In 2024 the Library of Congress added Dookie to the National Recording Registry.
